MISSION STATEMENT:
Embracing orphans around the world with His hands, His words, His love, His heart!

In 2003, Tommy and Aimee' Poche' adopted their first two children. Asa, their son, was a domestic adoption and Zoë, their daughter, was an international adoption. "When we look at Asa and Zoë, we cannot imagine them being without a Mom or Dad". Through their years of trying to conceive and seeking the Lord for His guidance, the Poche's have come to know a God who wants to see families multiply and who longs for His people to care for orphans. While they were in Peru to adopt Zoë, they were able to visit 2 orphanages and see first-hand many children’s desire to have a family they can call their own. Through this experience, their eyes and hearts were opened to orphans. They were filled with God’s compassion for the fatherless and in 2005 they went back to Peru to adopt Zoë’s four siblings ages 22 months, 9, 13, and 15. Since “His Heart for Orphans” began, we have witnessed many children being adopted by their forever family. Forever families like Dina and Heath Slack who adopted Jacob domestically and Olivia from Taiwan, Carole and Dean Turner who adopted Steele domestically and Abel from Ethiopia, and Brandi and Gered Lambert who adopted Jada from China.

Tommy and Aimee' along with the Slack’s, the Turner’s, the Lambert’s and others of “His Heart for Orphans” families know the trials and financial challenges of both processes, but they also know the reward! The heart of this ministry is to mirror God’s heart to care for orphans around the world, share their experiences and resources on the adoption processes and provide God’s word on adoption so that more fatherless children can be adopted by their forever family.

“His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into His own family through Jesus Christ. And this gave Him great pleasure.” Ephesians 1:5

Here is what some workshop attendees said:
"We wanted to thank you so much for the workshop you held on Saturday. We were very impressed with how paced and full of information the workshop was. We left feeling more secure in our desire to adopt. And while we do have two boys of our own, a 5 year old and a 3 year old, we have always felt that God has placed adoption on our hearts. We have been attending HPC for over 4 years now and everyday feel more strengthened by being a part of this church. Anyway – I just wanted to tell you guys how much we enjoyed and benefited from the workshop and to thank you! You guys were wonderful and it was an amazing experience to meet your children – they are beautiful! God Bless, J and K"

"I just wanted to say thanks for the workshop today. I appreciate all of you for sharing your time, knowledge and experiences.”

"When my husband and I began to feel a calling to adopt, the HHFO adoption workshop helped answer many of our questions and confirmed our calling. HHFO's continued support as we went through the adoption process was priceless!" Susan

ADOPTION SUPPORT GROUP:

Hi, we are Heath and Dina Slack. We were blessed through the adoption of our son, Jacob, in April of 2003, and we feel that God has led us to be an encouragement to those who have adopted, those who have a desire to adopt, and those who have a heart for orphans. As leaders of the adoption support group, Heath and I are praying that God will reveal His plan. We feel that the Lord not only wants this to be an outlet for fellowship, celebration, and encouragement, but also a network to meet the needs of those who cross the path of this ministry. We will have 4 fellowship events per year. These events are full of food, fun, and fellowship!! Please see Calendar/Events page for our next adoption support group fellowship event!

HEART GALLERY:

There are over 500,000 children in the foster care system and many are available for adoption. The Heart Gallery is serving as a tool in our community to help these children get adopted. In 2009, the Heart Gallery will be moving throughout the East Baton Rouge community!

SERVOLUTION:

We were honored to do two room makeovers at the State Foster care building where birthparents and their children meet. Today, they get to meet in a painted fun room full of toys with new loveseats in each room! And most importantly, we were able to pray for these children, families, and workers! We can’t wait to meet some more needs for our next Servolution!
