HPSM is a ministry experience that provides interns the credibility of an accredited degree in an environment where application occurs simultaneously.

Our teachers are educated and have years of experience all around the world and in many ministry settings. Interns also have access to guest speakers from around the world who are known for integrity, wisdom and longevity in ministry. Our interns have the opportunity to serve in diverse ministry settings through Healing Place Church's eleven campuses world-wide. All of these experiences make Healing Place School of Ministry an opportunity of a lifetime.

Overview

Dear Potential Student,

I am so excited that you would consider attending Healing Place School of Ministry! HPSM is a hands-on program that will stretch you, disciple you, equip you and teach you! Our heart for every student is that through this program they would discover a new level of serving others and grow in their relationship with Christ. We believe that God is raising up leaders in this generation through the local church that will lead with a John 13 mentality - to us, leadership has never been about carrying a title but a towel. We have designed this school around young, post-high school adults who aren’t satisfied with living a mediocre life – those who want to see this world changed through the power of Christ. We believe in strengthening every student mentally, physically, spiritually and relationally (Luke 2:52). We aim to create a balance between academics and hands-on training.

Jesus-style leadership is about rolling up your sleeves and washing the feet of those around you.

Our mission at Healing Place Church is to be a healing place for a hurting world. We're a church that has been blessed with tremendous growth - starting with a dozen people in 1992 and now have the privilege of serving thousands of people every week. We are a multi-site, multi-cultural church with a huge vision for the lost and the poor. We've been called a church "for those who don't belong in church.” We do our best to be relevant to our culture and give people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, and all situations the opportunity to have an experience with God. Healing Place School of Ministry is an extension of our mission to be a healing place - mentoring and equipping people who are serious about following Christ and who want to make a difference with their lives.

  • It is serious.
  • It is intense.
  • It is a blast!
  • It WILL make a difference in your life forever.

If you want to grow in Biblical knowledge from accredited professors, experience ministry along side a world-class staff, and make life-long friendships and memories, HPSM is your ticket! Check it out, pray about it, and let us know when you're ready. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Core Values

Solidify Foundation

Building a solid Biblical foundation and world view is a core value of Healing Place Church. Our goal is to produce a well-rounded Biblical base that an intern will be able to utilize whether in a church or secular setting. Interns will attend an average of nine hours of class a week, taught by Healing Place Church staff and various outside guest speakers from around the world. Interns receive access to men and women from all walks of ministry life, with years of experience to invest in them for their future Christian walk and ministry.

Be challenged to live your life with a global perspective.

Experience Ministry

Interns' "skill sets" will expand as they serve at Healing Place Church worship services, outreaches and in other various ministry settings. Interns will learn ministry through hands-on experience as they serve throughout the church under experienced and committed staff and leaders. Interns will be assigned to serve under a ministry and/or campus based on their passions, skills, gifts, abilities, experiences and needs of the church. Internship opportunities are available in: Children, Youth, College, Young Professionals, Singles, Sports, Senior Adults, Young Marrieds, Missions, Strategic Planning, Leadership Development, Inner City, Outreach, Spiritual Development, Connect Groups, Tech, Nursery, Guest Services, Grant Writing, Worship, Media and more.

Serve Local Church

Obtaining and being faithful to the vision of the house is vital to Healing Place Church, and thus a vital part of Healing Place School of Ministry. Interns will get the opportunity to have an impact on thousands of people as they serve at Healing Place Church while acquiring knowledge on the functions of the local church. Interns will serve at Healing Place Church's weekend and mid-week services and learn behind-the-scenes administrative aspects as well. They will also be empowered to see the role of the local church in reaching the world.

Extend Further

Interns will also acquire basic skills needed to reach outside the church walls and impact people both locally and globally. Healing Place School of Ministry will train interns to share their faith in a variety of settings to a variety of different people, from the inner city to prisons to the upper class communities. Interns will be challenged to live their life with a global perspective and will also participate in a short-term mission trip. Interns are challenged to give of themselves fully - their talents, treasures and time for the building of God's Kingdom through Healing Place School of Ministry.

Serve

Cultivate Excellence

A vital aspect of Healing Place Church is to strive for excellence in all things. Interns will learn what it means to cultivate excellence and aim for the highest quality in every area of their lives because they are living examples to the world of the excellencies of our God.

Identify Calling

At Healing Place Church, we want interns to grow wholly in their heart, soul, mind and strength. Healing Place School of Ministry is designed to help interns begin the journey of identifying and discovering one's calling, purpose, spiritual gifts and identity. Whether a graduate decides to go into full-time ministry or not, the ministry skills, discipleship, mentoring, Biblical knowledge and accredited degree acquired in Healing Place School of Ministry will be beneficial for any setting, situation, environment, or circumstance to help one better live the life God intended for them to live.

Healing Place Church

Healing Place Church has been built on the vision to be a healing place for a hurting world. The staff at HPC have a passion to express Christ through creative means. God has brought together an incredible team to express his love in practical ways. Community outreaches and missions' projects of every kind are just a couple of the ways that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is shared with countless individuals. HPC is reaching out to the lost and hurting of this world. Filled with compassion and offering hope to the poor, oppressed and forgotten, HPC is a healing place for a hurting world!

Over the last several years, God has opened up a new and creative way for HPC to reach people via multi-site church services. Simply put, it's taking the message of healing and salvation that has been at HPC over the years and bringing it to strategic places all around the world. These additional campuses are not chosen by demographics or city growth, but rather hearing the heart of God and responding to the needs in that area. We truly believe that God's Kingdom will grow by building life-giving churches throughout the world. HPC is now expressing Christ in ten different locations and as God speaks, we will continue to launch even more. These are exciting times for the church!

Each campus has the heart of HPC to be a healing place for a hurting world yet has a unique expression of that heart depending on location, culture and available resources. God is moving and we want to continue being a part of what He is doing.

Interns

Classes are fun, exciting and applicable. HPSM classes consist of eight-week Core courses that go toward completing an accredited degree, as well as Guest Lecture courses to complete the degree program.

What are the main components of HPSM?

Interns will be attending a diverse assortment of accredited weekly classes, receiving ministry training from Healing Place Church staff and experienced Christian leaders, pastors and missionaries from around the world and obtaining extensive hands-on experience by serving throughout Healing Place Church. Interns are able to apply what they are learning, providing a very holistic ministry training.

Class

What are the classes like?

Interns will experience three types of classes. Interns will take Core Lecture Courses to complete their accredited degree, and Guest Lecture classes to complete their HPSM internship program. The Core Courses are taught by HPSM certified professors. These are ten-week lecture classes, designed to provide interns with a strong Biblical foundation. Interns will receive a syllabus for each course, with objectives, assignments and deadlines. Interns will take three to four courses a trimester. Guest Lecture classes will be offered throughout the program. These classes are taught by Healing Place Church staff and various experienced guest speakers from around the world. Interns will receive no coursework for these classes, but practical ministry training. The last course type is the Ministry Training Courses. In these courses, the intern will serve on an assigned ministry team and learn from a Healing Place Staff Member how to run that particular ministry.

Through this experience, you will be stretched by Bible study, serving opportunies, various ministry settings, as well as being involved in the details of creating a life-giving church experience.

If I am a Full-Time intern where will I live during HPSM?

Interns have the option of living at home or other housing if approved by the Healing Place School of Ministry staff. It is highly encouraged that interns seek out the most inexpensive housing option possible. If the intern needs a place to live, they have the option of staying in a low-cost apartment with other interns. The cost is around $250 for the apartment. Interns should seek to live in an environment understanding of the demands and standards of HPSM. HPSM staff must approve the living arrangements of all interns.

What can I do with my degree?

Healing Place School of Ministry at its core is designed to build and equip Christian leaders, whether in the ministry or secular setting. Whether an intern receives course credit or a full degree through the internship, the classes and experience are life changing. Interns desiring to seek full-time ministry will find the degrees and certificates available through Healing Place School of Ministry, to not only certify them for that next step, but also equip them with the knowledge and experience needed. Interns desiring to seek a vocation in business, or plan to be a stay at home parent will find the knowledge and experience to help them be an influential and solid Christian leader as a boss, parent, spouse or ministry leader. And a degree is beneficial and always a plus on a resume for employers. For more information on opportunities to use your degree see Beyond Healing Place School of Ministry in the HPSM catalog.

Can I have a job or attend college while I am in HPSM?

It is possible to have a part-time job if you are enrolled in the Part-Time Program or the Summer Program. However, working is not possible if you are a Full-Time intern because we want interns to be enveloped in a focused environment where specialized ministry trained can be cultivated. In order for Full-Time interns to get the most out of this training experience interns will not have time to hold a consistent job. It is not possible to attend another university while enrolled in the Part-Time or Full-Time Programs. It is possible to attend another university while enrolled in the Summer Program and HPSM Nights.

What are the rules on dating for Full-Time/Part-Time HPSM interns?

Full-Time/Part-time is designed to create an environment for interns to cultivate extreme growth in their relationship with God. All of the requirements and rules established are to help foster a focused period of time to seek the heart of God in all areas of one's life. We believe for interns to make the most out of this time, give themselves fully to God, whole hearted and undistracted that it is a must for them to abstain from dating for the duration of their first ten months in the internship. Potential interns currently in a long-term relationship should set up a meeting with the Healing Place School of Ministry Dean prior to applying to seek approval to maintain the relationship. Second year interns are allowed to date upon approval by HPSM staff, but must still adhere to certain guidelines. No Full-Time interns may date other Full-Time interns unless approved by HPSM Staff.

What is the difference between College and Institute?

The only differences are the cost of tuition and the degree the intern receives at the completion of the program. Interns have all of the same experiences and requirements. Institute interns will receive 1 credit hour for every course that the College interns receive 3 credit hours for. This is because the College interns have paid the amount required to receive the full-accredited degree, while the Institute intern has paid less. There are future opportunities for interns who have graduated from Full-Time Institute to turn their 1 hour credits into 3 hours credits, and receive the full accredited Associate and/or Bachelor degree offered on the College level, by meeting financial requirements, since coursework requirements would have already been met. Simply put, if you are seeking a degree then the College Plan is for you. If you are not seeking a degree and solely want ministry experience, then the Institute Plan is for you. The Cost of the College Option is $5,000 and $3,000 for the Institute option.

Interns2

What is the difference between Part-Time and Full-Time?

The Full-Time Program is a 24/7 program in which the student has made his or herself fully available to the program, and is on call at all times. The average week for a Full-Time Intern is 5 days a week, with 2-3 nights. The Part-Time Program is a little more flexible so that interns may work a part-time job. The average week for a Part-Time Intern is 4 days a week, with 1-2 nights. Also the Part- Time Interns are required to be at fewer events throughout the 10 months. There is no cost difference between the two.

Is there an HPSM Program for people who have full-time day jobs?

Currently we are working towards starting HPSM Nights in 2012. This program will have leadership and Bible classes held at night. There will serving and growth opportunities for those involved.

All interns must raise tuition and personal expenses before entering Healing Place School of Ministry since they are unable to hold a job during their enrollment.
